One of the most beautiful and interesting castles in the Anjou region is Brissac Castle, which, despite all the devastating and destructive French revolutions, has not only retained its appearance and interior, but still remains the residence of the family that still owns the castle. In addition, this is the highest French castle - its height is 52 meters, and for this reason it is nicknamed "The Giant of the Loire Valley". It is located in the small town of Brissac-Kence, whose name is translated quite funny - "hole in the bag" (Breche-sac). On this occasion, there is a legend according to which a cunning miller lived in these places a long time ago, who used to cheat when selling grain. He measured his grain with a sack with a hole in it. The name Brissac stuck to the entire area. On November 3, 1958, the castle was given the status of a historical monument of national importance, and since 2000, along with numerous castles of the Loire Valley, it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The rooms of the castle, of which there are more than two hundred, turned out to be the best among the other castles of the region in their interior and beauty. Magnificent wooden ceilings, antique furniture, numerous paintings, sculptures and tapestries adorn every room of the castle.
