Borgund Stave Church

Stave Church in Borgunn, or Stave Church in Borgund, the “Borgund Wooden Church” is one of the oldest surviving frame churches.
Located in the village of Borgund in the province of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.

In total, more than 1,500 stave churches were built in Norway, only 28 have survived to this day in varying degrees of safety.
It was built presumably in 1150-1180 and is still breathtaking!

Borgund Stave Church is a unique example of impressive medieval architecture and is a distinctive landmark on the tourist route to Lærdal. Built around 1180 and is dedicated to the Apostle Andrew. The church is exceptionally well preserved and is one of the most distinctive stave churches in Norway.
